Ban all baseball bats!!

I have been doing some reading on the heinous crimes that have been committed with that terrible weapon, the baseball bat.  Read these articles.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,509353,00.html

I call on all citizens to unite in an effort to ban baseball bats. Baseball bats have been used repeatedly to injure or kill people. Maybe we shouldn’t ban them outright, but we should restrict the availability of baseball bats to only those individuals work for a registered, sanctioned baseball organization. Also, those individuals must go thru at least 16 hours of training on the proper use of baseball bats. Once this training is complete and they can prove that they can rightfully use a baseball bat, they must also be trained on how to transfer the use of (not the ownership of) the baseball bat to an individual that has also been trained and licensed on how to properly deploy this weapon. This will change the way baseball is played, as dropping the weapon will not be tolerated as it is then not in the control of someone who has been properly trained in it’s use and storage.  The bats will need to be stored in a secure location when not being readied or used.

While we’re at it, we should restrict the sale and use of arrows.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,509353,00.html

Seriously, can we please put the dialogue on these “weapons” where is really should be?  Bats and arrows don’t kill people.  PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE!!  Why is it that guns get personified?  Isn’t an innocent person getting killed, by whatever means, a tragedy?  If we don’t stop personifying the weapons, we won’t get to the heart of the issue which is the wack jobs doing the killing.  The man in Alabama killing his family and some other innocents is a tragedy.  But don’t condemn the weapon of choice.  Condemn the man.  Fortunately for us, he didn’t belabor us with paying to feed and house him until we could execute him.  A so-called assault weapon, a bat, an arrow; they are all inanimate objects.  Set it down, don’t touch it, it harms no one.  We need a level of dialogue that gets beyond the political agendas of the gun control idiots.

By the way, we should ban bras too.  http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,504445,00.html But not because they’re used as weapons.  :)

If you look at the statistics, every time a government takes away the citizens guns, crime goes up. It emboldens criminals because they know that law-abiding citizens are unarmed and vulnerable.

The problem is that too many guns are available. We need to cut down on the supply. Less supply means less opportunity for acquisition. Less acquisition means less killing. The only people with a need for assault weapons is the military. The only other people with a need for high capacity weapons is the police.
