Race baiting
Racism is like a pendulum. In the past the pendulum was in a position where blacks were targets of racism. The pendulum is swinging. It is actually swinging to the other side where whites are starting to be the targets of racism. Rodney King said, “Why can’t we all just get along?” Martin Luther King Jr. said that he hoped that his children would be judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. All great comments. From where I sit, I think we’re pretty close to that. So why is it that we have black people in positions of leadership that practice race baiting and don’t get called on it. Our own president, during his inauguration, sat by and listened to a black preacher, Joseph Lowery, race bait during the recitation of his prayer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYBjZT7JbVw It would not be appropriate for the president to react or comment on the spot, but I would hope that he has a follow up with this individual and explains what is wrong with what he said. And he should never be invited to a function again. Now, if a white person speaks out about this obvious race baiting, it gets turned around on them and they are called racists. But where is the outrage by the black community? Why are they not calling this guy out? Why don’t they call out Jesse Jackson, Al Shapton and all the other race baiters? Why don’t the blacks see that these people are actually the ones that are holding them back? They are the ones that perpetuate racism! Where is the outrage? Kudos to Bill Cosby for calling them on it. We need more leaders like Cosby and less of the other guys. Obama should put Cosby on his cabinet. He could be the Secretary of Shut-the-hell-up-and-do-for-yourself. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A6615-2004Sep8.html And by the way, this isn’t a “black” problem. This is a “victim” problem. Color really has nothing to do with it.
I’m not sure I’d call what happened in the link you listed racism. This was a wacked out nutjob doing terrible things. Yes, he targeted non-whites, but you have to admit, he’s just plain nucking futs.
Oh, by the way….
What’s this about racism not being “such an issue” anymore?
Not according to this.
And not accordin to American intelligence agencies, who say they are seeing wheels starting to turn faster and faster on white supremacy websites.
Things are just starting to heat up.
Not really, no. Most of our “Founding Fathers” were Deists or Freemasons. Then, of course, there WERE the Baptist and Catholics, etc etc. Which “Church” would you like to be our “American religion?” I think I may just vote for modern Satanism, whose “Nine Satanic Sins” (those that all Satanists should try to NEVER commit) I rather agree with: Stupidity, Pretentiousness, Solipsism, Self-Deceit, Herd Conformity, Lack of Perspective, Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies, Counterproductive Pride, and Lack of Aesthetics. (Make sure to actually read the defintiions of those according to the website link. They may not think what you think they mean, and believe it or not, many coincide with America’s mainstream political ideologies!)
However, nacl to our “Founding Fathers:” they left the words “God” and “Lord” and “Jesus” out of the Constitution on purpose (Except for ONE reference, “Year of our Lord,” and that doesn’t say much at all!). They did not want a theocracy, and they wanted the church, whichever one it might be, to stay out of their business, while they stayed out of the churches’ collective business.
They also did not want morality to be legislated, as “morality” is defined differently by different religions… I much prefer “ethics,” which are pretty standard across the board, instead.
Separation of Church and America is VERY possible, and is best for our nation. The sooner we realize that we can not rule our country like the extremist, totalitarian Muslims rule theirs (by religious mandate), the better off we will be.
@admin
I thought the USA was founded on the principles of Christianity!!! You can separate Church and state but you cannot separate Church and America….
To loosely quote somebody else I read on the subject, Rev. Lowery is one of the last remaining lions of the “civil rights age.” His frame of mind and reference are different than those of us who did not grow up as second-class citizens in our country and did not have to fight for the right to sit at the lunch counter or on the bus.
As I understand it, he actually twas playing on an old, old rhyme that put other races down, and he turned it into something positive.
And I’m not saying this is the case with everyone, but don’t you think that those people who are offended by this playful rhyme are the ones who need to “embrace what’s right” the most? Why are they crying out about racism (against whites) now, but not when, during the campaigning, many (of these same people!) were accusing Obama of being Muslim, which, first of all, he isn’t, of course, and second of all, doing so implies that being a Muslim is a bad thing, which is racism! (Or, if you think racism should be literally translated as prejudice based on race, then it was not racism, but was a similar type of bigotry, certainly)
Personally, I think we should take all religion out of government and not have prayers, invocations, or any type of calling upon deities/faiths at government events. Likewise, churches should be fined for participating in politics (Prop 8, anyone?)…
But that’s just me.
